Field guides
Start with the launch essentials, then follow the settlement systems that affect your next decision.
Before a new save
Check the release state and PC requirements, then prepare a list of observations for your first session. Our beginner guide explains what to inspect without prescribing an unverified construction order.
During a session
Record shortages, occupied jobs, blocked roads and household requests. Keep those observations tied to your build. A plan based on your own save can be useful even before a complete community database exists.
Early Access release date
Wild West Pioneers is scheduled to enter Early Access on 25 September 2026. The current Steam listing still says coming soon.
What Early Access includes
The Steam FAQ describes a launch with upgradable buildings, connected settlements, biomes, simulated settlers, citizen roles and expeditions.
Early Access roadmap
The official roadmap outlines three future updates. Their order is announced; their release dates are not.
Launch discount and wishlist milestone
The 14 September announcement reports 150,000 wishlists and a planned 15% Early Access launch discount.
Platforms and storefronts
The verified release plan is for Windows PC through Steam, GOG and the Epic Games Store. Steam currently lists single-player.
PC system requirements
Steam lists 12 GB RAM minimum, 16 GB recommended and 14 GB of available storage. Compare the complete profiles below.
Supported languages
The current English Steam listing shows seven interface and subtitle languages, with full audio in English.
Is Wild West Pioneers multiplayer?
Steam currently categorizes Wild West Pioneers as single-player. We have no verified current co-op or multiplayer announcement.
The February demo: historical status
The developer announced that the February demo would be removed on 6 July because it no longer represented the redesigned game.
September playtest status
The announced September playtest window ended on 14 September at 08:00 UTC. It was a specially prepared, two-hour build.
Playtest versus Early Access
The February demo, September playtest and planned September 25 release are separate evidence scopes. Their numerical values must not be merged.
Before your first settlement
Prepare to observe supply, household needs and progression together. A fixed “best” opening build order is not yet verified for Early Access.
Choosing your first settlement site
Compare the resources and constraints you can actually observe. The August Journey spotlight describes a tradeoff between river access and other site resources.
Settlement planning
Treat each settlement as its own supply ledger, then connect it to the wider network through explicitly recorded imports and exports.
Production and economy
Trace an input to its producer, then follow the output to its use. A stockpile alone does not tell you whether the chain is balanced.
Production chain reference
The June developer journal describes logs feeding a sawmill, planks supporting cabin upgrades, and improved housing providing shelter.
Building materials and housing
Official housing development notes connect logs, planks and clay with stages of housing. Exact construction quantities remain unverified.
Building database
Inspect announced and historical buildings by role and source. No complete EA building inventory or verified cost table is available yet.
Building upgrades
Upgradable buildings are part of the announced Early Access scope. Exact effects, material requirements and payback values await current-build evidence.
Settlers and daily life
The official description presents settlers with routines, basic needs and personal wishes. Their satisfaction matters to whether they stay.
Settler needs and coverage
Track each observed need, its supply source and whether it reaches the household. Do not replace missing game data with a happiness percentage.
Whims and household wishes
Whims are personal household requests described in developer spotlights. The September test patch changed when they begin to appear.
Workforce planning
Separate available settlers, assigned jobs and unfilled positions. A staffing worksheet can reveal an overcommitted plan without assuming worker efficiency.
Jobs and assignment records
Keep a workplace and assignment record for each observed job. The public material does not yet support a complete EA job catalog.
Storage and buffers
Storage is a stock at a point in time; a buffer is how long that stock covers a chosen demand. Keep both separate from production rate.
Trade and settlement logistics
Plan transfers from an observed surplus to a recorded deficit. A balanced region still needs a route that can actually deliver the goods.
Multi-settlement planning
Give every town its own ledger. Compare local balances before distributing a regional surplus.
Exploration and expeditions
Official descriptions connect Scouts with discovering locations, new settlement opportunities and interactive scenes.
Journey, points and unlocks
The August spotlight describes a Journey system that rewards construction, exploration and tasks with points used for unlocks.
Tutorial Assistant
Developer spotlights describe an optional Tutorial Assistant separated from the main quest. It provides guidance without requiring every player to follow it.
Roads and building connections
Roads and freely placed buildings are part of the current game description. Detailed snapping behavior in older guides changed during testing.
Citizen roles and officials
The Steam FAQ confirms citizen roles in the planned EA scope. Toplitz names Mayor and Sheriff as examples of official choices.
Settlement specializations
The current store describes specializations as ways to respond to settlement needs. Exact unlocks and effects are still awaiting verification.
Support and useful bug reports
Use the publisher support channel for a reproducible issue. Keep the build, system details and steps with the report.
